Apple's updated Macs in holidays

Wednesday, October 21, 2009

Apple Incorporated company looks to build on momentum heading into the all-important holiday season as they introduced the updated Mac computers.

The company refreshed its line of iMac all-in-one desktop computers in a new edge-to-edge glass design and aluminum enclosure. Its price is unchanged at $1,199.

The company's new MacBook laptops are lighter at 4.7 pounds. The MacBook will start at $999, the same price as before.

The Mac mini, Apple's lowest-priced computer at $599, was refreshed, with more speed, storage and memory.

"This finalizes our lineup for the holiday season," said Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook. "I feel great about our position going into it."

Apple's business shows little signs of slowing despite a recession that has pinched consumer spending.

Apple posted fiscal fourth quarter earnings and revenue that blew by Wall Street forecasts. Mac units grew 17 percent in the quarter.
